Schiphol is one of the largest and most important airports in Europe. To make more effective use of their data and analytical capabilities, Schiphol has engaged Blackbirds to increase their data & analysis capacity and set up an expertise center for Data & Analytics.
Data is Schiphol's most valuable asset. The challenge was to unlock this value by increasing data & analysis capacity, with a strong focus on data governance and quality. Schiphol wanted to gain data-driven insights to support business planning and strategy.
Blackbirds set up a Center of Expertise for Data & Analytics and implemented an Enterprise Data Platform. This platform, with a strong focus on data governance and quality, enabled Schiphol to gain data-driven insights and perform complex analyses.
Within the expertise center, Blackbirds focused on the infrastructure by setting up an Enterprise Data Platform. Data Scientists provided data-driven insights and performed complex analyses to support business planning and strategy. The use cases were prioritized together with the business to deliver maximum customer value.
Blackbirds also managed data governance and implemented improvement initiatives around data quality and metadata management. Standards such as DAMA DMBOK2 and CMMI DMM were used, along with Blackbirds' own methods and techniques.
To promote a data-driven culture, a data education program was set up. This program included training and sessions at multiple levels within the organization, from management to data owners.
Thanks to the use of Blackbirds, Schiphol was able to obtain high-quality data-driven insights, which led to better decision-making and optimization of business processes. The implementation of the Enterprise Data Platform and the focus on data governance and quality provided reliable data to support decision-making. The data education program promoted a data-driven culture at Schiphol.
The collaboration with Blackbirds has helped Schiphol increase their data & analysis capacity and set up a center of expertise for Data & Analytics. This has led to better decision-making, optimization of business processes and a data-driven culture within the organization. Schiphol is now better able to extract value from their data and strengthen their position as one of the most important airports in Europe.
