The police and the Royal Military Police are responsible for registering the identity of any suspect or alien they arrest. This is done with the help of the Basic Identity Determination Facility (BVID), a system that is currently complex and not user-friendly.
The operation of the BVID is complicated and not user-friendly, which causes problems for inexperienced users. In addition, the system is obsolete and there is a need for a new approach to developing an improved facility.
Blackbirds was brought in to improve the usability of the BVID and develop a vision and roadmap for a new facility. This was done through a UX scan and co-creation sessions.
Blackbirds performed a UX scan to assess the usability of the BVID. Based on the findings, the current processes were optimized and the interaction improved. In addition, the consultants facilitated co-creation sessions to develop a vision and roadmap with the police and the Royal Military Police for the development of a new facility.
Thanks to Blackbirds' optimizations, the turnaround time of the registration process has been accelerated by a few minutes. More than 250,000 registrations are made with the facility every year, which is now more user-friendly for both the end user and the suspect or stranger. In addition, the first steps have been taken towards the development of a new facility.
The deployment of our data management specialists has led to a significant improvement in the usability and efficiency of the BVID. By optimizing the current processes and developing a vision and roadmap for a new facility, the police are better able to capture an honest and integral personal image. This contributes to more effective and user-friendly identity identification.
